The farm, sixteen miles south of Edinburgh, has enjoyed a baby boom lately with over 20 little piglets running around the organic land. The pigs are considered some of the happiest in Europe as they’re allowed to forage and nest naturally in the green rolling hills of the Scottish Borders.

Whitmuir is one of over 60 farm shops from across the country signed up to the new Scottish Government-funded initiative to encourage shoppers to make small changes to their shopping habits by visiting a local farm shop before topping up at the supermarket. The campaign was launched last month by Richard Lochhead, Cabinet Secretary for Rural Affairs Food and Environment.
Farm shops across Scotland are gearing up for some spooktacular goings on this Halloween with hundreds of activities taking place from Edinburgh to Aberdeen, Dumfries to Lochaber.

The First Stop Farm Shop campaign is funded by the Community Food Fund and aims to encourage Scottish customers to make their local farm shop their first port of call when food shopping.
