Michelin recommended Scots restaurant in picturesque town has closed permanently

Another Scottish Michelin recommended restaurant has sadly closed its doors.

The team behind Etive restaurant in Oban have announced that they have closed down the business.

Posting on their social media, the announcement read: "It is with a heavy heart that we must announce the permanent closure of Etive Restaurant. After much consideration and with profound sadness, we have made the difficult decision to cease operations.

"Thank you for your loyalty, support, and the cherished moments we've shared. We do hope our paths cross again in the future. With heartfelt thanks and warm regards, John & David."

The restaurant, which opened in 2018, was mentioned in the Michelin guide, with inspectors writing that one of their favourite meals had been served there.

They wrote: "When eating out in Scotland, there’s nothing better than sampling their superb local seafood – and the fresh turbot in this simply yet skilfully cooked dish was certainly meaty and flavoursome.

"Large, salty mussels complemented the sweetness of the turbot wonderfully, while a creamy mussel broth added a lovely richness.

"Great care had been taken in the preparation of this dish, with the exceptional natural flavours given space to shine."

At this time, chef owner John McNulty said: "We believe that the best meals start with the best ingredients.

"Our team is dedicated to showcasing the rich flavours and textures of Scotland and this inclusion with Michelin is testament to that, we are very happy to be included by them, through creative dishes that highlight the natural beauty of each ingredient this is something that really drives me forward as a chef."

Showcasing Scotland's finest local ingredients and located in the heart of Oban, Etive Restaurant became a favourite among locals and tourists alike.

The restaurant's team was made up of head chef John McNulty and sommelier David Lapsley, who worked closely with local suppliers and producers to source the fresh, local ingredients.
