When is the Local Hero Festival?

The event runs from Saturday 6 May until Saturday 27 May.

There's a range of walking tours, which follow on from the opening weekend, an exhibition, immersive northern lights experience, ceilidhs, live music and the grand final of the rabbit pie competition.

What food and drink is available?

Festival organiser and private chef, Andrew Mellon, is hosting a six course tasting menu at his home, N/ine.

Guests are invited to join the immersive experience which will start with a cocktail, followed by six courses that include local produce such as seafood, fish and meat. There will be accompanying wine and live music.

Local beer for local festival

Local Hero

Outlandish, a microbrewery based in Lanarkshire, has created a new Local Hero themed beer, Local Hero Brew, for the festival.

Owners and brothers Ronnie and Kenny have partnered with the famous Pennan Inn, who will be serving the new beer throughout the month of May and Pennan owner Monika designed the label for the bottles.

The beer will be available on tap and in bottles throughout the festival and it’s expected that thousands of pints will be sold to Local Hero super fans around the world.

The brew is a perfect accompaniment to the already announced “Great British Rabbit Pie Off” taking place at the Festival.
