House of Gods Glasgow: Food and drink plans as hotel with rooftop bar to open this year

As House of Gods is set to open their second Scottish hotel in Glasgow later this year, we spoke to owner Mike Baxter about what guest can expect to find out the menu.

In 2021 Mike confirmed that, after a successful opening of the Edinburgh House of Gods, the lavish hotel would be coming to Glasgow.

Opened in September 2019, House of Gods is a 22-room boutique hotel and cocktail bar just off Edinburgh’s Royal Mile.

Where is the Glasgow House of Gods located?

The hotel will be located at 61-63 Glassford Street in the Merchant City, and it's set to open in late May 2023.

The Merchant City is set to also be home to Glasgow's Soho House.

What food and drink will be available?

The Glasgow hotel will also have Prosecco buzzers in the rooms, just like Edinburgh and there will also be butler’s rooms on each floor, so nobody has to climb the staircase with glasses on a tray.

On the ground floor, there will be a Garden of Eden inspired bar and lounge, where they’ve already installed a six metre long solid marble bar - “no expense has been spared” Baxter said.

In this area, there will be cocktails, snacks and small plates. They’re just waiting for 100 metres of hand painted wallpaper to be delivered from China so they can add the finishing touches.

There will also be a rooftop bar, one of only a few in the city. To suit Glasgow City Council's planning department, this space is made entirely of glass and they’re going to fill it with plants.

In common with the in-house Casablanca Cocktail Club in the capital, it will have a schedule of DJs and drag acts. “All the normal madness,” says Baxter.

Guests can also look forward to 31 new bedrooms, a spa with a steam room, treatment rooms and an experience shower that’s been imported from Italy.
