Tennent's Wellpark tackles the FIFA scandal

Wellpark, Tennent's collection of online animated comedy sketches, has turned its attention to the FIFA scandal that's currently rocking the world of football.

A new character named 'Fly on the Wall' – a cynical veteran of news, who’s seen it all and who also happens to literally be a fly – was introduced to give a Scottish take on the latest happenings at football's governing body.

Wellpark is a series of thirty short episodes that will be released across the summer. So far viewers have been treated to talking dogs, a secret society of Scottish mums and Bobby and Paul, two pals in the pub who ponder questions such as ‘How many is Umpteen?’.

Residents of the fictional Scottish town will react to the real events, with this particular episode being put together and released online within the space of 24 hours.

The series is a collaboration between the brewer and a group of writers, directors and animators. In just over a week, Wellpark’s six episodes have already attracted more than 450,000 views.

“The FIFA scandal’s got everyone talking and the story looks set to run-and-run, so we decided to give it the Wellpark treatment,” said Jordan McKenna of Tennent’s Lager.

“We’re really chuffed with the reaction that Wellpark’s had so far – more than 450,000 views in seven days is fantastic. And because we can create sketches in a matter of hours and release them almost immediately online, there’s a huge amount of freedom compared to an ordinary campaign. It’s been fun – and there’s lots more to come.”
