Thaikhun, pronounced 'tycoon', has opened a new premises in Glasgow's Silverburn Shopping Centre this month following in the footsteps of their first Aberdeen venture. The Thai restaurant is part of the Thai Leisure Group - whose portfolio includes Glasgow's fine dining restaurant Chaophraya - and marks the fifth venture overall for the chain.
Aiming at offering authentic Thai cuisine, this drop-in restaurant is casual in its décor and resembles the bustling roads of Bangkok housing a tuk-tuk inside and rustic wooden panelling throughout.
Ian Leigh, Group Operations Director at Thaikhun, said: “We exceeded all expectations when we opened the first Thaikhun in Union Square, Aberdeen, last July.
“Our vision is to bring a real taste of Thailand's street food scene to the people of Glasgow in the form of authentically rustic surroundings and tasty street food dishes.”
Lovers of Asian cuisine can expect regional specialities such as Pla Suman Prai and Por Pia Gai.
The Thai Leisure Group secured £10million funding from Santander earlier this year and aims to expand its restaurants nationwide. The group are reported to be opening eight venues throughout 2016.
