The brand has ditched the traditional red striped wrapping from some Tunnock's teacakes and replaced them with purple foil.
A limited batch of 1000 purple foil wrapped Tunnock's teacakes have been distributed to Pancreatic Cancer Action Scotland in order to help raise awareness and funds.
November is Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month, and to help promote this and raise money, the much loved brand has ditched their distinctive wrapping and donated 28 boxes of the treats to the charity to be auction off.
The auction has been organised by Glasgow-based Law Firm, Just Employment Law (JEL), who support Pancreatic Cancer Action Scotland.
The boxes of Tunnock’s teacakes join other auction items that include sporting memorabilia, hotel stays and golf experiences.
The auction began on 1 November and will run until 19 November, which is World Pancreatic Cancer Day. All proceeds will go to Pancreatic Cancer Action Scotland.
Back in March, Tunnock's shocked fans as they announced that they would have to stop production due to coronavirus restrictions.
At the time, a spokesperson said they made the move after ‘considering every alternative’ to protect their 600 staff against the spread of the coronavirus – the shut down meant that staff could self-isolate.
The closure was praised by the union Unite Scotland, as staff were paid 90 per cent of their wages.
