Greggs share their steak bake recipe - here's how to make one at home

The nationwide bakery chain joins a range of other big name eateries in sharing one of its most popular dishes.

Because of the lockdown measures currently in place, going out for lunch has become a distant memory for most. But now Greggs have shared a recipe for their steak bake, meaning fans can recreate it at home.

The bakery was forced to close last month amid the UK lockdown due to the spread of the coronavirus - leaving many people missing their favourite baked goods.

But now you can make some of of the popular pastry snacks at home thanks to DIY tutorials released by Greggs.

The tutorials shows recipes on how to make a steak bake and a sausage, cheese and bean melt at home - and they're easy to do.

Budding chefs are being invited to share their creations on social media under the hashtag #GreggsItYourself.

More tutorials will be available every Wednesday, with a chicken bake the latest video to be shared.

The Greggs steak bake recipe video has proved popular, with 1.4k comments and over 500 shares.

Finely diced beef

Beef stock

Cornflour mixed with water

Puff pastry

An egg, lightly beaten

Method

Pre-heat the oven to 200°C

Sizzle the beef in a pan until browned, then pour on the beef stock and add the cornflour.

Mix until thick then leave to cool.

Cut two pieces of pastry to 108mm x 94mm each.

Egg wash the sides of the pastry.

Spoon in the beef filling onto one of the pieces of pastry.

Place the other on top and press the edges down with a fork.

Score six line on the top, then egg wash.

Pop in the over for 20 minutes or until piping hot and golden.

Sausage, bean and cheese melt recipe

Ingredients

Beans and sausages (mixed)

Puff pastry

Cheese, grated

An egg, beaten

Method

Pre-heat the oven to 180°C

Cut two squares of pastry, and egg wash the edges.

Add a spoonful of the beans and sausages to the middle of one square.

Sprinkle on the cheese.

Place the other square of pastry on top and press down the edges with a fork.

Score some lines on the top then egg wash.

Cook for 20 minutes or until golden brown and piping hot.

Chicken bake recipe

Ingredients

Chicken breast, diced

Chicken stock

Cornflour mixed with water

Double cream

Cream cheese

Puff pastry

An egg, lightly beaten

Method

Pre-heat the oven to 200°C

Fry the chicken in a pan until cooked.

Add the chicken stock and bring to a simmer.

Thicken to taste with the cornflour mix.

Add the double cream and cream cheese.

Season with salt and pepper and leave to cool.

Cut two squares of pastry.

Egg wash the edges.

Spoon in the filling onto one square.

Place the other on top and press down the edges with a fork.

Cut six lines on top then egg wash.

Cook in the oven for 20 minutes or until golden brown and piping hot.
