Edinburgh's New Chapter restaurant to extend Eat Out to Help Out scheme

This Edinburgh restaurant is extending the popular government scheme.

New Chapter, an award-winning family-run restaurant in Edinburgh’s New Town, will extend the Eat Out to Help Out offer beyond the scheme’s end date of 31 August.

The scheme gives the customers of participating eateries 50 per cent off on food and soft drinks (capped at £10 per person) and is available on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Under the Eat Out to Help Out scheme, New Chapter’s customers have been able to enjoy the popular lunch menu for as little as £10 for two courses and dinner from £14 for two courses.

The offer has been so popular that the restaurant owners decided to offer it for another month.

What's on the menu?

With local, high-quality ingredients taking centre-stage, the customers can look forward to tucking in to dishes including: truffle-poached egg, Scottish girolle mushrooms, smoked onion purée, mushroom consommé; sea bream, squid, chorizo brandade, mussel and tomato butter sauce, summer vegetables; and Scottish raspberries, white chocolate cremeux, buttermilk granite, at low prices for one more month.

Speaking of the extension to the Eat Out to Help Out deal, New Chapter’s executive chef, Maciek Szymik said: “The Eat Out to Help Out was a lifeline for many restaurants in the country and has proven to be a massive success.

“Thanks to the scheme, we managed to keep all our team members employed and we really want to sustain it for as long as possible. We are very worried that when August finishes, people will stop dining out as often as they do now.

“We would of course love for the Government to extend the duration of the scheme, but even if they don’t we will do our best to keep it running for another month.

“It will inevitably mean that we will be selling our food on Mondays - Wednesdays at cost price, which would not be sustainable long-term, but if it means we will be able to keep our amazing staff employed, this is what we are going to do”.

How to book

Bookings can be made at the restaurant’s website or by calling 0131 556 0006.
