With Valentine's Day fast approaching we've picked out five of the most romantic restaurants in Glasgow to impress your other half with.

Date night inspiration can often be hard to come by, particularly when you want to make the night a special one, however a trip to one of these restaurants is sure to be one to remember.

Here are five of the most romantic restaurants

The quirky option...

Brel

(37-43 Ashton Ln, Glasgow G12 8SJ)

Interiors don't come much more whimsical than Brel, which can be found in the already romantic Ashton Lane with its cobbled paving and pretty lights.

With a stripped back design, quirky interior and candle lit tables there are few better places - particularly with their cosy conservatory featuring a warm stove - in the city to share a Moules Frites (pot of Scottish steamed mussels) or a milk chocolate fondue with mini meringues, mallows and other dunkable treats.

To wine and dine...

Ubiquitous Chip

(12 Ashton Lane, West End G12 8SJ)

One of Glasgow's best restaurants and for good reasons, the Chip is a great place to go to wine and dine your significant other.

Choose from a range of stunning dishes with ingredients from the best of Scotland's producers and regions - think scallops from Barra, pheasant from Luss and Red deer from Laggan - before coorying up in the wee bar for a dram or to share a bottle of wine.

The classic option...

La Fiorentina

From films like Lady and the Tramp to the Apartment, Italian cuisine has always portrayed as the food of love, and who are we to argue?

Heading to the south side of the city, you won't find better examples of Carne, Pesce and Pollo dishes than in this traditional eatery housed within a building that wouldn't look out of place in a scene from the Godfather or Goodfellas - just don't forget to order the Bolognese and pucker up.

Make sure to take a wee trip across the road to one of our favourite pubs The Old Toll Bar for a nightcap.

For the foodies...

Black Sheep Bistro

If you haven't been to Black Sheep Bistro yet you are seriously missing out; a foodies dream, the BSB offers massive plates piled high with the kind of homemade food your granny would make - if she was a professional cook.

Comfort food at its finest, both of you will be grinning ear to ear as you tuck in, but make sure you save room for the desserts because as unbelievable as it sounds (particularly after eating so much amazing  food) it really is the best part of the BSB offering.

The cheap and fun option...

Ok, so sharing tables and brightly lit interiors might not be everyone's idea of romantic but hear us out, the buzzing atmosphere and sharing the best pizza in town is a sure fire way to have fun on date night, and the beauty of it is, there are no bookings allowed so unless it's absolutely stowed you are gathered to get a seat.

Grab two pizzas, a couple of sides, a dessert to share and a bottle of prosecco and you'll still get change from £50, now that's the kind of value we love.
