Bottled at a meaty 49% it’s not for the faint hearted. Distilled in 2008 and bottled in 2013, there was only a few limited runs made. You should check out this bottling not only for the whisky but also for the great art work on the bottle itself. I doubt there can be that many whisky bottles with dragons covering the label. First impressions of the nose are of charcoaled sweet meat. When poured into the glass it opens up , offering other flavours such as citrus fruits and vanilla, and strangely, banana which I’ve noticed before in other bottlings from the same company. The first taste is very light and punchy, you can definitely tell it’s young, however the rawness does it no harm and if anything adds to the punch. The fruits are there in abundance and are finished off nicely with little wisps of smoke and spice. The finish is lingering but dry, with hints of smoked chocolate.
Verdict: still young and looking to find itself but a very interesting entry into the story book that this company ais trying to create.
