The Whisky Barrel launches campaign to support Poppy Scotland - here's how to donate

Treat yourself to a new bottle of whisky this month and donate to Poppy Scotland thanks to the Whisky Barrel's gift wrapping service.

The Whisky Barrel has launched its annual fundraising campaign to support Poppy Scotland.

Proceeds from the specialist online whisky shop's gift wrapping service will go Poppy Scotland, which provides support to our Armed Forces community.

Best known for the poppy appeal, the charity raises funds each year to help those who have served or are serving in the armed forces. The charity also helps their families at times of crisis and need by offering vital, practical advice, assistance and funding.

When buying from the Whisky Barrel, customer can donate by getting their purchase gift wrapped.

Director of The Whisky Barrel, Christopher Brown said: "We are running our campaign in support of Poppy Scotland again this year.

"We have been doing so since 2017 where we donate all proceeds from our gift wrapping service (£6 per bottle gift wrapped) to Poppy Scotland throughout November. It has raised nearly £1,500 in this time just from this simple donation.

"This year, we want to see more amazing support. 2020 has been quite frankly a miserable and challenging year.

"This year, the annual Poppyscotland appeal is under increased strain, with thousands of volunteers now forced to stay at home due to the impact of Covid-19.

"With the impact of the pandemic, there are fewer volunteers out collecting and online donations are key. We're appealing to customers, searching for a gift, or just buying whisky, to donate by adding the option of gift wrapping to their order."

Last year, The Whisky Barrel released a range of limited edition bottlings. These never to be repeated whiskies included: Bunnahabhain 10 Year Old, Cameronbridge 37 Year Old, Ledaig 11 Year Old and a Miltonduff 10 Year Old.
