The best supermarket whiskies for under £35 - from Tesco to Asda

If you're new to whisky or want to grab a bargain then these supermarket buys are ideal.

From own brand sweet Speyside single malts to smoky Islay whiskies, the main supermarket whiskies include a great range of drams that'll suit all tastes.

Lidl

Lidl has won multiple awards for its range of whiskies, the most recent of which was a Ben Bracken that was launched in late 2020 and is a 16 year old smoky Islay single malt priced at £34.99.

Whisky expert Blair Bowman dubbed the single malt “An incredibly moreish dram, perfect for the colder winter months”.

The Ben Bracken Speyside single malt is ideal for those that prefer lighter drams, and works well in a highball. It's available in stores at £16.99.

For those that love blends the award-winning Abrachan blended malt whisky is a steal at £15.99.

Aldi

Aldi also has a range of affordable, award-winning whiskies.

Their 12 year old Glen Marnoch single malt, which is priced at £19.99 is ideal for those looking for a bargain as is the award-winning Highland Black, £13.49.

Tesco

Tesco has its own brand blended Special Reserve Scotch whisky, which at £16 for a litre.

With decent reviews, this three year old blend would be ideal for cocktails.

Tesco also often does good discounts (mainly for those with a Clubcard) on well-known single malts, including Laphraoig.

Asda

Asda also has a blended Scotch that's cheap, cheerful and ideal for mixing.

Asda McKendrick's Blended Scotch Whisky is three years old and priced from £12.50.

There are also deals on other malts at Asda, including Haig Club, Famous Grouse and Whyte & Mackay.

Morrisons

Morrisons own brand whisky is a blend of malt and grain whisky which is described as having a fruity, honeyed flavour.

Priced at £11.49, this is another one that won't break the bank and will work well with mixers.

Other whisky deals at Morrisons just now include discounts on Famous Grouse Smoky Black, Loch Lomond and Bowmore.

Sainsbury's

Sainsbury's own brand blended Scotch is £10.79 and one of their products that is price matched with Aldi.

Deals at the moment on whisky from Sainsbury's include discounts on Glen Moray, Johnnie Walker red label and Bell's.

Waitrose

The Waitrose own brand whisky is a blend that's priced at £13.29.

It is described as golden and mellow, there is silky, spicy richness on the palate and a classic, well-blended finish.

Glenmorangie serves up new limited edition whisky - A Tale of Ice Cream

It is made from Speyside single malts, matured in American bourbon casks and Spanish sherry butts and blended with Scottish grain whisky.

Current whisky deals at Waitrose include Tamnavulin, Singleton 12 year old and Jura 10 year old.
