Tennent's opens first online shop - and gives fans the chance to win a Golden Can

Tennent's fans can now buy beers and merchandise from a new online store - and be in with a chance to win a Golden Can.

For the first time, Tennent’s Lager is giving fans the chance to order beer and merchandise direct from the Wellpark brewery, via a new online shop.

To mark the launch, Tennent’s is offering one lucky fan the chance to win one of its coveted Golden Cans, joining previous recipients like Irvine Welsh, Sam Heughan, Biffy Clyro, Amy Macdonald and the Scotland National rugby team.

In recent years, the prestigious Tennent’s Golden Cans have been awarded to deserving Scottish icons who have made a significant contribution to Scottish culture and society and now, one super fan will be able to join them and become part of Tennent’s history and add their name to the Golden Can Hall of Fame.

How to win a golden can

To be in with a chance of winning a Golden Can, fans can enter a raffle via the online store, where tickets are priced at £5 each.

All proceeds from the raffle will be donated to The Ben (The Benevolent Society of the Licensed Trade of Scotland), Scotland’s drinks and hospitality industry charity, whose role is to help and care for former and current members of the hospitality trade.

Everyone who buys a raffle ticket to win a Golden Can will also qualify for a 15 per cent discount on all merchandise placed via the on-line store.

What's for sale in the online shop?

The new online store, which is now live, features an exclusive range of premium Tennent’s merchandise allowing fans to get their hands on unique Tennent’s T-shirts, hoodies, sweatshirts, personalised pint glasses and mugs in addition to beers - Tennent’s Lager, Tennent’s Light and Gluten Free T.

Another first will be the ability to buy Tennent’s Export range of beers, which were previously only available overseas or to purchase in person during Wellpark Brewery Tours.

The new online store continues Tennent’s sustainability commitment by reducing plastic use across the shop and using recycled packaging and sustainable materials where possible.

Commenting on the online shop, Kat MacBride, digital communications manager at Tennent’s, said: “Our new online store, range of merchandise and direct-to-your-door beer delivery has been a long-time in the making, and we’re excited it’s out there for people to now enjoy.

"We’ve had lots of requests from consumers in Scotland and beyond about buying direct and it’s great to be able to offer this alongside our brilliant new range of Tennent’s merchandise.

“We know that the Golden Can is something that previous winners such as Biffy Clyro, James McFadden and Martin Compston have been chuffed to receive and we value our Golden Can as the highest honour we can give to someone, so we thought giving one of our loyal fans the chance to win one while supporting the fantastic work of The Ben, would be the perfect way to launch our new online shop.

“Tennent’s has been a supporter of The Ben since the charity was founded more than 150 years ago.

"The impact that the coronavirus pandemic has had on the hospitality sector has seen a huge increase in requests from current and former members of the licensed trade seeking support.

"We hope that giving fans the opportunity of winning one of our legendary Golden Cans will help raise vital funds for the charity while also helping mark the launch of our new online store.”

The online store is housed on Tennent’s new website. Deliveries are free for orders over £40.
