Punters were left scratching their heads after the brewers placed a perfectly poured pint on display in a classic cabinet at the top of Glasgow’s Buchanan Street. A descriptive card revealed that this was indeed ‘A pint of Tennent’s’ by artist Keith Lugton – who is in fact the master brewer at the East End brewery.

Keeping watch over the ‘artwork’ was a 6 ft 7 security guard, who didn’t leave its side for a minute and ensured no thirsty passers-by got too close to the arty creation.
A spokesperson for Tennent’s Lager said: “We brewed up the idea when we heard the Turner Prize was heading north and thought we’d have a bit of fun. Glasgow – and Scotland as a whole – has so much creative talent that we should be proud of and it’s just our little nod to that, but also to the fact that we know some folk consider the perfectly poured pint to be a work of art in its own right.
“It might not be a Banksy masterpiece but Tennent’s is well-crafted by our master brewer Keith, and is valuable to many on a Friday night down the pub! We wish the Tramway the best of luck with their exhibition.”
The Turner Prize is one of Europe’s most prestigious contemporary visual art awards and the exhibition runs at Glasgow’s Tramway from October to January 2016.
