Team behind Edinburgh's Game of Thrones pop-up return with The Walking Dead themed bar

Following on from their massively successful Game of Thrones inspired pop-up in the capital, the pop-up geeks are back with a new bar and this time it's inspired by hit TV series the Walking Dead.

They had  Game of Thrones fans arriving in droves at their first fantasy bar, Blood & Wine, now they are hoping to repeat that success with Survive, a brand new pop-up inspired by The Walking Dead.

Located at One Below, a venue below the Six Degrees North bar on Howe Street, the new bar will submerge guests into the murky and dangerous world inhabited by characters like Rick Grimes, Negan and of course the Walkers.

Following the grand opening on Wednesday 3rd May, Survive will be open every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evening throughout May & June.

The walking Dead pop-up

The team behind the concept said that "after weeks of scavenging we've stockpiled a variety of beers, spirits, cocktails and rations for survivors to enjoy", rations which include a selection of boilermakers (a beer and whisky combo or cocktail) inspired by major moments from the walking dead comic book series and tv show.

Linden Wilkinson, who is behind the pop-ups, said: "Our concept is to keep each pop up short and constantly explore new themes, this is a great way to appeal to a new audience each time and keep things fresh and exciting while never allowing our bars to become stale. There were a number of reasons for moving on to The Walking Dead next but mostly we wanted to do something completely different as a follow up to Blood & Wine.

"The idea of a post-apocalyptic survival bar really appealed to us, everything from the decor and the music to the drinks on the menu is unique and for us that's really exciting. Aside from this, The Walking Dead has a massive following and we are really passionate about both the TV series and the comic book series.

The Walking Dead

"We are excited to be working closely with Six Degrees North and Drinksmonger to bring the undead to life for a true Walking Dead experience in Edinburgh. This is just one of our exciting pop ups lined up in 2017.

"Our aim is to bring together drinks and entertainment to create unique and exciting experiences. Following survive we plan to return to Game of Thrones and have plans and ideas for the future inspired by properties such as Harry Potter and Stranger Things."

He also confirmed that their previous pop-up Blood & Wine will also be making a return in the near future, saying: "It will actually be returning later this year in July & August to coincide with Season seven and Edinburgh’s Fringe Festival. Our initial run was more of a success than we could ever have dreamed and we just can’t miss the opportunity to come back to it while the hype surrounding Season seven is at its peak. Alongside running Survive we are going to be hard at work looking at ways to build on and improve Blood & Wine ready to open at the beginning of July although the finer details are still up in the air."
