Scottish restaurateurs launch smoked salmon infused gin

A team of Scottish street food vendors turned restaurateurs have launched a new gin, which is infused with smoked salmon.

Some people might say we've reach peak gin thanks to the array of spirits out there. But not us, we are here for everything - from the traditional to weird and wonderful - and this recent launch is no exception.

With the Scottish gin market in full swing with no signs of slowing down, a range of flavoured full strength and liqueur options have been launched recently with flavours ranging from smoky and floral to fruity (and occasionally vegetable themed).

Many distilleries and companies are looking to push the boundaries of the flavours, and none more so than Mac & Wild who recently launched a smoked salmon infused gin.

Posting on their website, the team said: "What on earth we hear you ask? Many of us thought the same initially!

"Inspired by the famous salmon leap back at our Basecamp up at Mac & Wild Falls of Shin in the Scottish Highlands, this is a Gin with real difference – one for the Gin lover who’s tried them all!

"Distilled at the Dunnet Bay Distillery in Caithness, this small batch salmon infused Scottish gin is one to be brave and try before you shy away from its peculiarity!

"Rich and subtle at the same time – a truly unique palette that almost always pleasantly surprises!"

Mac and Wild are Andy Waugh and Calum Mackinnon who hail from Inverness and Aberdeenshire.

After setting up a successful street food business that brought Scottish produce to London, they now own two restaurants there.

The smoked salmon infused Mac & Wild gin is priced at £32 and available to buy here.
