The capital is currently enjoying a surge of new restaurant openings, and has more restaurants per head of population than any other city in the UK.
Festival producers EdinEvents hope that this means that people will be tempted to sample experiences and styles of food that they have never tried before, taking advantage of the 10 day programme of special events, tasting menus and offers.

Though its counterpart in Glasgow may have been cancelled, Oktoberfest returns to the capital this week and heads to Princes Street Gardens in the middle of the city.
Beer fans will be able to celebrate all things Bavarian in a tent with space for 1,500 people, entrance to the Thursday and Sunday sessions cost just £5 while on Friday and Saturday it rises to £10.

And it's not just beer fans who will have cause to celebrate in the capital this weekend as the Tesco wine fair rolls in to town and gives people the chance to sample over 250 still and sparkling wines from around the world. There also be talks, masterclasses and even a wine walk.

Real ale fans on the east coast can enjoy the chance to sample over 50 real ales from all over the UK as well as wine, cider and live music at the annual Dunfermline Beer Festival which once again returns to the Glen Pavilion.

This weekend, the UK’s largest gin event returns to Edinburgh’s Corn Exchange with a festival that promises over 100 different gins, the newest brands and appearances from industry experts.
Running over four sessions over the weekend, the entrance fee costs just £8.50 and gives guests access to a huge amount of gins, live entertainment, talks from gin industry experts and masterclasses.

The 17th Ayrshire Real Ale Festival runs from Thursday 6th to Saturday 8th October 2016, at its usual spot in the Troon Concert Hall.
Organised by the Ayrshire & Wigtownshire branch of CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale), the festival will once again feature over 150 ales from around the UK.
