After successfully opening a pop-up bar in the legendary Sammy Dow's on Nithsdale Road, Lebowskis owners have announced plans for a permanent venue following a refurbishment and is scheduled to open doors in October 2015. Revellers will be pleased to hear that the Finnieston based venue, famed for being White Russian connoisseurs, will have a second offering in Glasgow's thriving southside with additional features (everything yet to be announced).
The Lebowskis southside venue is said to differ from Argyle Street bar with plans to accomodate its locals. The legendary venue Sammy Dow's has been an institution to southside locals for many years. Speaking of the refurbishment, it is reported that owner Graham Suttle intends to continue the live music tradition of Sammy Dow's and keep the soul of the legendary venue alive. This latest development for Finnieston-strip veteran comes shortly after his recently launched venture, the highly acclaimed Porter & Rye.
For those unfamiliar with the Lebowskis venue on Argyle Street, their extensive drinks list entails the billed "Scotand's Answer to the White Russian"... A concoction of Buckfast, Kahlua and milk! Try it for yourself! If that doesn't sit well with one's palette, there are over 30 different White Russian recipes for you to try and there will most likely be new additions to try at the highly anticipated new venue as well.
The crowd-pleasing establishment is also known for their welcoming atmosphere, mountainous burgers and other high end cocktails.
Mr Suttle said: "The south side is very unique and we wouldn't want to paint it with the same brush as the west end. The community is very strong and it's an area coming into regeneration."
