Kingsbarns Distillery to introduce new Balcomie expression to its core range

Kingsbarns Distillery in Fife will launch a new expression this month.

Kingsbarns, the family owned distillery in Fife, has unveiled a brand new whisky – Balcomie – which pays homage to the beauty and heritage of the distillery’s surroundings.

The spicy, zesty and balanced expression is named after the local historic landmark Balcomie Castle.

The whisky is the first of future continuous releases that will be named after celebrated sites in Fife – in a move by the distillery to showcase how important place and heritage is to the Kingsbarns brand.

Available from 9 November, the team say that the whisky features "sumptuous scents of treacle, sultanas, fruit loaf with cinnamon icing, a touch of dark chocolate and summer berries and has flavours of sweet, tinned pineapple, orange peel, cake spice, dried apricot and a hint of roasted hazelnut."

The liquid has been matured in 100 per cent ex-Oloroso American Oak Sherry Butts from Jerez, which results in a balanced spirit.

The wood allows the signature Kingsbarns light and spirit to shine through. It is non-chilled ‑ filtered and bottled at 46% ABV.

“The new addition to our range allows whisky lovers to enjoy fruity and indulgent flavours from an original bottle designed to honour our Scottish heritage.
