Juniper Festival have announced the first exhibitors for its inaugural virtual edition, which is the first in its seven-year history and the first to feature a 360° tour of the venue.
The festival usually takes place in June at Edinburgh’s Summerhall, the home of Pickering’s Gin.
On the weekend of World Gin Day – Friday 12th – Sunday 14th, visitors to the Juniper Festival website will be able to tour the areas of Summerhall usually used for the event from the comfort of their homes, and learn from each of the virtual exhibitors such as Biggar Gin, South Loch Gin, Pentland Hills Gin, Darnley’s Gin and Isle of Harris Gin, through video, text and images as if they were attending in person.
In place of the regular program of talks and masterclasses, guests will be able to log on to live Q&As with producers and distillers to learn more and pick the experts’ brains.
The aim of the festival is to give guests as much of the festival experience as possible.
Rachel MacDonald, internation brand development manager at Isle of Harris Distillers said: “We are really pleased to be involved in this virtual version of Juniper Festival and feel that people will still get a flavour of the festival atmosphere.
"These types of events are great for keeping the conversation flowing until we can all meet in person again."
Jamie Shields, organiser of Juniper Festival added: “Juniper Festival has always been about celebrating the world of gin, giving our guests the opportunity to learn more through interacting with the very people who make it.
"We encourage visitors to the online festival to buy some gin in advance to sample alongside the event, supporting your favourite distilleries or even trying something new.”
Juniper Festival Online will take place all day from Friday 12th June to Sunday 14th June. To find out more, please visit the website.
