To celebrate Global Wine Day today (18 Feb), why not raise a glass from a unique and unexpected location?

From the desert to central London, there are a range of wines from unusual places all over the world that are well worth trying.

Whether it's an unlikely vineyard located 3,600 feet above ground, or wine aged 1,825 metres under the sea, Winebuyers have listed their top choices from far-flung and unique locations to enjoy this Global Wine Day.

Where: In a Desert, Country: Jordan

With over 300 annual days of sunlight, the Jordanian climate provides the vines of JR Wines with both the conditions and minerals required to flourish and produce a true taste of Jordan.

Located in the Basalt Desert, melting snow from Jabal Al Arab resides under this volcanic desert vineyard to give life to over 40 types of grape varieties.
