Edinburgh's Juniper Festival to return - with ticket deposit scheme launched

Scotland's original gin festival is gearing up to return this year, with he launch of a ticket deposit scheme.

Juniper Festival, has launched a new ticket deposit scheme for this year's event, which will be held between Friday 1 and Sunday 3 October at Summerhall in Edinburgh.

Deposits are £5, and are redeemable against a £20 full price ticket which will go on sale later in the year when more government advice regarding large scale events is provided.

Should the festival be cancelled, deposits will then be used to provide guests with a box of two gins from Lucky White Heather Gin Club, Juniper Festival's gin subscription service.

Jamie Shields, organiser of Juniper Festival said: "I think we're all desperate to get out and enjoy gin festivals and events once more, especially us.

"We can't wait for the opportunity to connect gin lovers with producers and sample lovely drinks together, but we're also very aware that just like last year, circumstances are subject to change.

"Having a deposit scheme allows guests to register their interest without committing to a full price ticket, and no matter what they'll end up with some tasty gin to try."

Juniper Festival is set to return with the same format as previous years, with 30+ exhibitors providing guests samples of their products as well as interactive sessions and masterclasses, all of which are included in the ticket price.

Three distinct areas offer a variety of experiences for guests - the Main Room features more interaction with distillers and producers, the Dissection Room sees gin brands paired with some of the country's best bars to offer bespoke cocktails, and the outdoor area offers interactive gin exhibits as well as local street food.

The festival, organised by Summerhall Drinks Lab, will also continue its push to become more sustainable, having banned single use plastic since 2017.

Juniper Festival will champion exhibitors who are doing their bit for the environment, and £2 from each ticket sale will go to the team's charity partner Trees For Life, to help plant native trees and support rewilding in the Highlands.
