8 of the best Edinburgh pubs and bars for watching the Six Nations

It’s that time of year again when rugby takes over and dedicated fans lose over a month of their life to the Six Nations Championship.

Whether you've missed out on tickets, or you just prefer to watch in comfort, here are eight of the best bars in Edinburgh where you can see the Six Nations live.

Teuchters

Teuchters is likely to be full to bursting on a match day, but there’s no better place to soak up the Six Nations atmosphere than this cosy, old school pub in the West End.

The bar's proximity to Murrayfield Stadium makes it a favourite with rugby-goers, both pre and post-game, so you won't miss out on the buzz even if you didn't get tickets.

Malones Irish Bar

(242 Morrison St, Edinburgh EH3 8DT)

The recently relocated Malones has space for hundreds of rugby fans and the traditional Irish bar will be showing the entire Championship in 4k ultra HD.

Famous for its great atmosphere on match days, Malones can supply all the food, beer, live music and craic you could ever need.

Reservations aren't accepted, so arrive early to get your seat.

Rumour has it they'll also be hosting a special pop-up bar close to the stadium too!

Throughout summer, the Three Sisters’ giant courtyard screen (showing everything from the World Cup to the Ashes) makes this labyrinth of a pub off the Grassmarket a mecca for Edinburgh sports fans.

For the Six Nations, though, the bar opens up their beer hall to all rugby fans.

You can watch the whole tournament on HD widescreens with surround sound, and be waited on hand and foot by Three Sisters staff.

It’s the second best thing to being in the stadium, with much easier access to nachos, ribs and beer.

Belushi's Bar

(9-13 Market Street, EH1 1DE)

Showing every match live on their giant HD screens and projector, Belushi's is the place to go for a party, especially if you're looking for a raucous atmosphere to celebrate in - or drown your sorrows.

Offering a range of Table packages and plenty of bar snacks, this is the place to go if you have a big group with you.

Murrayfield Bar

(57-59 Roseburn Terrace, EH12 5NQ )

You can’t get much closer to the action without a ticket than holing up in Murrayfield Bar, where rugby fans have congregated for generations.

Much like Teuchters and the majority of pubs closer to Murrayfield, this place will be packed during the Six Nations, but packed with like-minded rugby lovers, at least.

You may have to wait longer for your pint to be poured, but sharing the infectious excitement with your fellow fans beats watching the game at home with your cat hands down.

The Pear Tree

(36 West Nicolson St, EH8 9DD)

Much like the Three Sisters, the Pear Tree also has a massive courtyard, as well as what well could be the biggest screen in the capital.

It also has four large screens inside should it get too cold outside and some delicious pub grub to boot, while you are waiting for the kick off.
