Craft brewery six°north launch crowdfunding campaign to open new venue in Dundee

Popular craft brewery and bar group six˚north have launched a crowdfunding campaign to raise £40,000 to enable them to open a “community focused” bar in Dundee.

Dubbed Dynamo, the new venture is set to open on the city’s Union Street this December and will be the fifth six˚north bar following openings in Aberdeen, Stonehaven, Glasgow and Edinburgh.

The brewery, which is run by entrepreneur Robert Lindsay, was established in 2013 in Stonehaven and produces modern artisanal beers inspired by traditional Belgian brewing techniques.

Dynamo will showcase six˚north’s own beer alongside some of the best breweries from Scotland, UK and further afield, across 24 taps, while spirits and wine lovers will also be catered for with a comprehensive list of both.
Excitement for the firm’s first bar in the city of Discovery is building after six˚north made its plans known to the public last week.

The group are hoping to raise £40,000 to bring Dynamo to fruition, with investors offered a plethora of rewards and perks in exchange for their money, including beer vouchers, merchandise and “Brewer For The Day” experiences, as well as invitations to exclusive “Founders Events” and early access to new beers.

Those who take part in the crowdfunding drive could also see an instant return on their investment of up to 75 per cent and will also be given a say in which beers are to be served at the new bar.

Lindsay, founder of six˚north, which also recently took part in Aldi’s 16th Annual Scottish Beer Festival, said: “Dundee is a city that’s been on our radar for a long time, we’ve been waiting for the right opportunity to open a bar here, and now we’ve found it! We’re crowdfunding the opening of Dynamo to give our ‘Crowd Founders’ the opportunity to embark on this exciting new journey together with us.

“Our Founders will have an influence on the direction of the bar going forward and we are very excited to offer the fine people of Dundee this unique opportunity.”
