Posting on their Twitter account the craft beer giants wrote: "Things we recommend doing instead of drinking @TennentsLager - Anything else."

However, the Tennent's team were in no mood for their shenanigans, reposting the tweet with the response: "When your annoying wee brother tries to bam you up but really he's just crying for attention… #Bless #Bothered"

Scottish beer fans following the spat quickly followed up with a gif of Barack Obama dropping a mic before several took a pop at Brewdog for targeting Tennent's.
One user described the tweet as "uncool" before adding that the team at Brewdog should be capable of marketing their products "without attacking a Scottish institution", while another called it a "lazy and cheap shot".
A Tennent's fan added: "Things we recommend doing rather than spending £5 on an overpriced pint of uber trendy BrewDog.
"1. Buy one and a half pints of Tennent's lager"
Following a lack of response from Brewdog, the Glasgow-based brewers then put the boot in by highlighting a reply from another user which read: "2. Force small independent businesses to change their name as you've just created a product with the same name #corporatebully".
The tweet from Tennent's highlighting the response then added "Just saying...", referring to the Aberdeenshire brewer's recent bust ups with two smaller businesses over copyright claims.
Popular Glasgow bar Slouch even got involved, writing: "Poor patter here. Your [sic] getting a little too big to be playing the plucky underdog you know...there’s room for both!!"
The Tweet, which has now been deleted by Brewdog, has caused an argument to break out between fans of both brands which is still ongoing, with some even starting up rival #TeamTennents and #TeamBrewdog hashtags.
