Bavarian Brau Haus confirms November opening for new Glasgow venue

The new Bavarian style beer hall has just confirmed on Twitter that it will be opening at 30 Bothwell Street on November 11th.

The £1m venue will join to the city's rich German themed beer bar scene, adding to the likes of WEST and the Bier Halle.

The group confirmed the opening date of the new Brau Haus under the hashtag #GutentagGlasgow.

The company also offered a preview of the interesting interior design including the one-of-a-kind mural painted across the ceiling of the building by Glasgow artist Nichol Wheatley.

It is thought that the range of brews on offer will revolve around the classic 'Big 6' that dominate the Munich brewing scene - Spaten, Hofbrau, Hacken-Pschorr, Augestiner brau, Paulaner, and Lowenbrau.

The A-listed building, that was formerly the site of Madness Theatre of Fun, has undergone a £1m renovation and redesign and when it opens next month will be home to what the owners say will be the biggest German-themed licensed premises in the city.

Owner Raymond Codona recently told STV that he felt the bar would work well with the city's aesthetic, he said: “We’ve spent a lot of time researching the traditional institutions of Munich, particularly the famous Hofbrauhaus, which is the key influence for this project.

“We believe this will be the perfect compliment to Glasgow’s vibrant and buzzing bar and restaurant culture.”
