5 of Glasgow's best coffee shops for you to check out

We asked Food and Drink Glasgow's Emma Mykytyn to select some of the best coffee shops in Glasgow for you to check out

This year sees the first officially agreed International Coffee Day, launching in Milan, Italy. However, you don’t have to go all the way to Italy to celebrate as we look at some of the best places that Glasgow has to offer for a coffee.

Glasgow has six roasteries within the city limits at the last count, and the desire for coffee doesn’t seem to be slowing down.

If you like your coffee strong and like a regular change of beans, check out Laboratorio Espresso, 93 West Nile Street. This small and stylish outlet has everything from cold-brewed coffee to an affogato. Save some room for their delicious pistachio cannoli.

Drygate, 85 Drygate isn’t just a destination for beer lovers but those who fancy a good coffee as well. Beans are roasted by Dear Green Coffee Roasters with a mild blend preferred by the Drygate coffee buyers. Ideal for sipping after a meal here or to set you up for a beer tasting later.

Another Dear Green Coffee Roasters outlet is Riverhill Coffee Bar, 24 Gordon Street. This coffee bar/café has a mild blend on offer, so no need for sugar to sweeten any bitter taste. A perfect coffee to accompany their delicious baked goods.

Looking for something a bit more substantial? Head along to Papercup Coffee and Roasting Company, 603 Great Western Road. Here you can find various blends, amazing food as well as subscribe to their coffee club to find your ideal coffee companion.

Finally, back into the city centre with Gordon Street Coffee, 79 Gordon Street. Two blends are on sale, their house brew and a Glasgow Roast, with the Glasgow Roast being a bit stronger. You can also arrange for a tour to watch their bean roasting in progress.
