Looking for an alfresco food fix this summer? The check out one of these top festival and markets which will be showcasing the best seasonal Scottish produce.

From one-off pop ups to monthly events hosting local farmers, crafty creations, live entertainment and prosecco pong, there's something for everyone this summer.

Bowhouse market

This pop-up foodie market will showcase the abundance of produce that is available in the picturesque East Neuk of Fife.

Free to enter, the food weekend event runs this weekend (7th and 8th July) and will introduce guests to the producers who create award-winning fare using time-honoured techniques.

The market will also host regular tastings, talks and demonstrations from chefs and producers.

Part of the Balcaskie Estate, the picturesque barn conversion aims to provide the Kingdom of Fife with an all-season destination for food lovers to explore the natural larder of Fife and beyond.

It will also provide an inspiring space for food businesses to create their produce, whether that be jams made from soft fruit grown in the nearby fields, wild game or rape seed oil harvested locally.

Enjoy a programme of live music, crafts, street food and of course, the very best food and drink from one of Scotland’s best loved farm shop, Balgove Larder, as their summer night markets return.

The markets take place monthly until September with an additional Christmas Night Market in December in Balgove Larder’s Steak Barn.

Visitors will be able to choose from a menu of dishes straight off the grill or select snacks from the changing roster of the latest street food outlets.

Shoppers will be able to stock up on fresh produce from the Balgove Larder’s master butchers and vegetable growers as well as a range of delicacies from other local food and drink producers: from chocolates and cakes, to craft beers and wines, as well as a carefully edited selection of craft makers.

While those looking for some entertainment will be able to enjoy live music from local artists as they take in the atmosphere and sample the produce.

The summer Night Markets at Balgove Larders will welcome a wide variety of traders including The Gin Bothy, Verdant Gin and Scotland's first potato vodka producer, Ogilvy Vodka.

There will also be a carefully curated range of craft makers including the East Neuk Candle Company, textile studio Tablet + Haar, and Nicki Bradwell Designs.

Edinburgh Food Festival

The best 8 new restaurants and bars in Edinburgh - including Mara and Manahatta

This free festival welcomes visitors of all ages to Assembly George Square Gardens, with stallholders offering everything from Alandas Gelato and Fish & Chips (East Lothian) to Jarvis Pickle pies (Berwickshire) and Chick & Pea street food (Edinburgh).

Quenching thirsts throughout the five days are a selection popular drinks brands, including Fyne Ales from Argyll.

Festival-goers will also be entertained will be a series of talks and demos taking place in the gardens’ beautiful Piccolo Tent.

Taking to the stage to talk all things food and drink is a range of key industry figures; including author and whisky consultant, Blair Bowman.

Launching on August 2nd, Leith Chill Fest is a vibrant celebratory festival of EH6’s thriving bar scene.

From then until September 2nd, Leith will become a cocktail village, with eighteen of the district’s top bars offering an array of incredible cocktails that capture the true flavour of Leith, for just £5 each with the purchase of a Chill Fest wristband.

Beloved bars including Toast, Woodland Creatures, The Roseleaf, The Lioness of Leith, Finn & Bear and The Lord Nelson have all worked together to create an exciting programme for festival-goers to look forward to.

From Sofi’s ‘Tropical Leith’ to Malmaison’s ‘Leith’s A Peach’, there’s a colourful cocktail concoction guaranteed to tickle your fancy, whatever your tastes may be.

Looking to purchase some of the best fresh, local food and drink direct from those who have worked hard to produce them? There can be no better place to find all of this and more at your local farmers’ market.

Partick’s offering runs every 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month from 10am-2pm, and plays host to local producers selling everything from coffee to meat, eggs and homemade bread and cakes.

Southside residents can pick up their local produce every 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month from Langside Halls from 10am-2pm.

Beer Makes Glasgow

Tickets are now available to buy for this charitable beer festival, taking place in Glasgow in August.

Back for a second year, beer fans can enjoy a finding out more about their favourite or new breweries under the iconic Seven Peaks of Drygate Brewing Co.

With weekend sessions that include breweries such as Up Front, Dead End Brew Machine and Fyne Ales, it's a great way to get some friends together and enjoy a pint of two.

Tickets are priced at £6.50 with all proceeds going to the Drumchapel Food Bank.

The Pitt

Established in 2015, the Pitt Market is Edinburgh’s pioneering street food venue with a stunning array of the best street food around Scotland, craft beer, cocktails, wine and live music on offer.

Scotland's first outdoor vegan festival is set to kick off this weekend in Dumfries.

Festival-goers can look forward to a range of vegan food and drink, enjoyed in the tranquil setting of Balloch O'Dee campsite.

As well as this there will be talks from inspirational speakers, food stalls, exercise classes including yoga and live music.

Dogs and kids are also welcome, with under 3s going free.

Big Feed

Glasgow’s original dedicated street food market was formed with community and charity at its heart in the southside on the other side of the Clyde in Govan.

Blown away by the response of their first few events, where people were queuing out the door to attend, the venture has grown from strength to strength over the past year, winning several awards along the way including our very own Scotsman Awards for Best Street Food.

After celebrating their first birthday earlier this year, the Big Feed have firmly established themselves as one of the best places for a bite to eat in the city.

Costing just £2 to enter, you can expect to enjoy dishes from the likes of Shrimpwreck, FireDog, Scottish Street Food awards winner Buffalo and Nomad Pizza.

Indian Food Bazaar

Glasgow plays host to the first ever  Indian Food Bazaar this weekend.

Diners are invited to experience the culinary delights from six different cuisines from all across India.

With free entry, all visitors need to do is buy vouchers or 'Scottish Rupees' which will enable swift purchase of food on the day.

There will be a range of stalls that cover the six foodie regions of India, all of whom will be serving a selection of dishes, some of which are new to Scotland.

Also look out for live cookery demonstrations, fresh produce stalls and authentic Indian drinks including cocktails and mocktails created using  Indian ingredients.
