Fans can get their creative juices flowing by creating their own Gets You Through film, or by re-creating classic iconic Irn-Bru adverts such as ‘Fanny’, ‘Steamy Windows’ and ‘Blind Date’ which can all be viewed on the brand’s YouTube channel.
Fans can post their adverts using @IRNBRU on social media, and the very best videos will feature in a special Irn-Bru TV ad-break takeover, airing on STV on Saturday 4 July.
The funniest content will also be shared across Irn-Bru accounts on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram each week.
As part of a new IRN-BRU partnership with The Stand Comedy Club, the best fan videos of the week will also air in its weekly ‘Saturday Night Live at The Stand’ comedy show on YouTube over the coming weeks. They’ll be introduced by top comedian Mark Nelson as part of line ups including Frankie Boyle, Daniel Sloss, Paul Foot and Jo Caulfield.
The call to ‘make your own ad’ comes as part of the returning fan favourite ‘Irn-Bru gets you through' campaign, which aims to lift the spirits of the nation by giving us all a laugh and celebrating the ability of people in Scotland to bounce back from tough situations.
Adrian Troy, AG Barr marketing director, said: “Our fans send us phenomenal ideas every week and loads of them make us laugh out loud. ‘Irn-Bru Gets You Through’ is about lifting everyone’s spirits and we can’t wait to see what fans come up with”.
