Scottish gin festival returns to Lidl supermarkets - here's everything you need to know

The third Scottish gin festival is back in Lidl stores, and there are some fab bargains and new flavours to be enjoyed.

The Scottish gin festival starts on 23 May, where shoppers in Lidl supermarkets in Scotland can pick up gins such as Shetland Reel Filska Gin, Isle of Bute Gorse gin, Colonsay Gin Solas and House of Elrick Artisan Gin.

Their spotlight this year, as with last year, is on small batch Scottish gins with prices starting from £18.99.

Scotland's only 100 per cent community owned distillery, Glenwyvis, takes the spotlight during the festival as this is the first time the distillery's Goodwill gin will be available to buy in a supermarket.

There are also some flavoured gins which will be ideal for summer BBQs and sunny weekends.

These include: Kinrara Distiller's Edition Lime & Lemongrass Gin; Strathearn Heather Rose Gin; House of Elrick Old Tom Coconut Gin and a liqueur - Redcastle Strawberry & Elderflower Gin Liqueur

The Lidl Scottish gin festival launched in April 2018 as was such a success that it was brought back to stores in early November.

Past festivals have featured gins from Makar, Ginerosity and Strathearn, and the exposure has allowed these boutique Scottish businesses to expand their reach and give customers nationwide the chance to try their products.

Last year Lidl's gin range increased by 41 per cent across UK stores - a testament to the country’s growing interest in craft gin.

Paul McQuade, Head of Buying in Scotland said: “Scotland has a hugely diverse gin offering and we are proud to be supporting local craft distilleries through our third Scottish Gin Festival.

"Offering a true taste of the vast landscape, we are showcasing a diverse collection of spirits from Shetland to Strathearn.

"At Lidl, we strive to bring the best quality gins to the market and the festival provides an exciting journey of discovery for Scottish gin lovers.”
