The 128th Aberdeen Standard Investments Melrose Sevens takes place on the 14th April with those fans unable to travel to the Borders to cheer on the home and international teams still able to enjoy the match day action on TV.
With the televised games set to be enjoyed in bars and pubs up and down the country, rugby fans are being asked to nominate their local bar, club or pub for the title of "Britain's best rugby pub".
The team are asking for pubs with great craft beer, large screens to view big matches, delicious food when the final whistle blows or clientele that makes for a friendly, welcoming atmosphere, who deserve to win the title.
Douglas Hardie, president of Melrose Rugby said: “Every year over 12,000 people descend on the Borders town of Melrose to see the on-pitch action, but thanks to television coverage from the BBC, the event is beamed out to rugby fans across Britain – and overseas too.
“Just like the Melrose Sevens, there can only be one winner of Britain’s best rugby pub, but we look forward to fans getting behind this one and stating why their local deserves the honour.”
The competition has been launched on social media asking pub goers to tell the organisers in one sentence why their local deserves the title Britain’s best Rugby Pub, with people being encouraged to share their comments – and pictures – on the Melrose Sevens social media - on Facebook, or Twitter using the hashtag #toprugbypub
Shortlisted pubs will be announced on March 22 and will then go to the public vote with the winner announced before this year’s Aberdeen Standard Investments Melrose Sevens.
The pub that gains the most votes will receive the coveted title and an inscribed plaque to recognise the achievement.
Tickets for the event itself start from £10 for children, £15 for senior citizens and £20 for adults. Family tickets are also available for £50, admitting two adults and two children.
All of the action will be televised by the BBC.
