The new hotel has launched in the city following an extensive £11 million refurbishment, so to celebrate, the team behind the new arrival has teamed up with a local Glaswegian bakery to put a quirky spin on one of the city’s favourite savoury treats.
Famed for its delicious warm cookies which guests receive upon arrival at Double Tree by Hilton hotels, the Glasgow venue – together with Baking for You – has put its own twist on the traditional Scotch Pie using its iconic cookie dough.
Billy Campbell, executive chef at the newly refurbished Double Tree, said: “We wanted to celebrate Double Tree by Hilton’s arrival in the city in a fun way to let all of Glasgow know we’d officially arrived. As a Glaswegian, I love a traditional Scotch Pie, so this was an exciting way to put a Double Tree spin on a local favourite and celebrate our iconic cookie.”
Ray McNeill from Glasgow bakery, Baking for You, commented: “Having been baking traditional Scotch Pies in Glasgow for many years, this certainly wasn’t something we’d ever tried before - but we do love a challenge. The finished product looks and tastes pretty great – if a little different to the traditional mutton pie.”
